Staff Changes at Aquavue

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

In all the rush and bustle of the last couple of weeks here at Aquavue Hervey Bay we’ve also said goodbye to three of our long-term staff.

Zoe from the cafe side of the business has decided that she’d like to try a different career path and will soon be working in an office here in Hervey Bay. Ben and Marcus from the beach hire side of the business have also moved on.

Ben has gone north to work on the boats further up in the tropics and Marcus has decided that a change to retail here in Hervey Bay would work for him.

We certainly wish them all well in their new endeavours.

Whale Watching in Hervey Bay

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Well whale season officially started here in Hervey Bay yesterday and the whales are already out there waiting. Now that might sound a little strange but once you’ve been on a whale watching tour you begin to realise that while we might be watching the whales the whales are watching us too.

Not only do they put on quite a performance for us but they also come up close to the boats to look at what we’re doing so don’t be surprised if you go out on a whale watching tour and come back thinking that the whales have been waiting out there to do a little human watching themselves :)

Here at Aquavue Hervey Bay we also handle tour bookings for the whale watching cruises and we can book you onto any of the vessels that conduct whale watching cruises. This year the cruises we’re recommending are run by DescaradA Charters, Shayla, Whalesong, Quick Cat II and Tasman Venture.

This is the DescaradA and I can tell you that it is a beautiful vessel to cruise on. The whale watching tour that the DescaradA will take you on is a little different to all the others. While the other whale boats fit two trips into every day the DescaradA sails at 8.30am and returns at 3.30pm so you get to spend a lot more time out in the Bay enjoying the company of the whales.

As you can see, the DescaradA gets you up close to all the action and you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

The whale watching cruise on the DescaradA includes morning tea, lunch and non-alcoholic drinks and of course the whales.

If you’ve never been up close and personal to the whales before I can tell you that it’s an experience you will never forget.

You can book your whale watching cruise on the DescaradA … or any of the other whale boats here in Hervey Bay through Aquavue’s tour booking service.

The Whales are Here!

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

The whales are starting to arrive in Hervey Bay! The crew of the Whalesong spotted three young whales up at the north end of the Bay last Wednesday so the whale watching season in Hervey Bay is already off and running :)

An Amazing Time

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Wow I just can’t believe that 10 days have gone by since  I last wrote something here on the Aquavue blog! But then looking back over those 10 days I can believe it because it’s been 10 of the busiest days for this time of year that I can remember.

The cafe staff have been run off their feet and even though the weather has been cold there have been plenty of people who have wanted to get their feet wet hiring jet skis and the new Seakarts.

Somehow I don’t think we’re going to get much of a break between the end of the school holidays and the start of whale season either.

Great Weather in Hervey Bay

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

The television weather forecaster last night described the weather in Hervey Bay as ‘balmy’ and he definitely got that right.

The weather this week has been great and people have been out on the beach enjoying the sunshine and here at Aquavue the cafe, the jet ski hire and the Seakart hire have been doing great business.

It’s been so nice that it’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of winter and just in case you think I might be exaggerating here’s a photo from our webcam that I grabbed at lunchtime today.

Aquavue - the Hervey Bay cafe

The camera is pointing down over the smaller of the two dining areas in our Hervey Bay cafe and you can see one of our Seakarts sailing just off the beach.

They’re forecasting weather like this for quite a few days and we couldn’t have asked for the school holidays to fall at a better time. With whale watching season just around the corner this weather we’re enjoying makes Hervey Bay a great place to be.

Sunrise at Aquavue

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

It’s been rather cold these last few mornings but sights like this have more than made up for the early morning starts. Who would want to stay in bed when they could be standing on the deck at Aquavue enoying a view like this as the sun comes up over Fraser Island.

This is the sort of view we see every morning when we’re out setting up the dining area in our cafe in Hervey Bay
