New Staff at Aquavue

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Around this time of year the workload on the staff who handle the jet ski hire and beach equipment hire here at Aquavue in Hervey Bay really increases. So we’ve welcomed Kylie to the team and like us, she’s dedicated to making sure you have a great time out on the water.

She’s also come to enjoy scenes like this

And Scott our full-time chef will be back from holidays on Wednesday.

Dugongs in Hervey Bay

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Much to everyones’ surprise and delight diners at Hervey Bay’s best cafe were treated to something very rare and very special yesterday. As the tide was going out four dugongs came in quite close the water’s edge right in front of the cafe and one actually pulled itself partly up onto the sand bank that forms in front of Aquavue as the tide is going out.

Unfortunately we were so surprised by out visitors that we missed the opportunity to photograph them.

At one time dugongs were quite common along the coast all the way from Brisbane to the Great Barrier Reef by these days it’s quite rare to see one even though we do seem to have a small population around Hervey Bay and the Sandy Straight.

To see four together and have one actually do more than just poke its head out of the water was something very special.

If you want to find out more about these marine mammals that are more closely related to elephants than anything else then visit this page at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s website

The Lull Before the Storm

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

We had a few miserable days last week as winter had it’s last hurrah here in Hervey Bay and on Thursday we didn’t open at all. The wind and the rain had set in and there was no way it was going to let up so we decided that it was time we all took a break.

But by Saturday morning the weather was back to normal and the place to be in Hervey Bay was down on the beach. We had a great day as lots of people came out to enjoy the best coffee in Hervey Bay.

Today’s going to be another great day and we already know that we’re going to be busy on the jetski hire and beach hire side of things. The Hervey Bay staff from our region’s electricity company are having a family day here so we’re getting ready for it.

Getting ready for a big beach hire day at Aquavue Hervey Bay

As you can see, we’ve got just about everything out ready for them and this is just the lull before the storm. But it’s a storm we’re looking forward to because Aquavue Hervey Bay is a place where people always have a lot of fun.

Father’s Day - What a Day!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

What can I say about Father’s Day except WOW!

Here at Aquavue we did 275 meals, we had groups of up to 20, we had extra tables and chairs out to cope with the demand and the cafe crew were just run off their feet!

It was bigger than anything we had ever expected and we really appreciate the fact that so many people thought of us as the best place to take Dad for a great time on Father’s Day.

Even the weather was amazing :)
