Busy Times at Aquavue

April 25th, 2008

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost three weeks since I last had a chance to sit down and add a few lines here but it is.

Since Easter Hervey Bay has slipped into that quiet time that always comes at this time of year. It’s the time that we can all collectively catch our breath before whale watching season starts in July and there’s no doubt that the town in general has been quiet.

Here at Aquavue though it’s just been crazy with plenty of jet ski tours to Fraser Island, fishing boat hires and lots of people enjoying coffee and the view from the cafe. One view that not many people get to see is this one - sunrise over Fraser Island.

This really is a great time of year to visit Hervey Bay. Off-peak rates, plenty of great accommodation and stunning mornings like this one are just standard fare right now :)

Another Stunning Weekend

March 30th, 2008

Last time I had a chance to pop in here Easter was just about to arrive and the Easter weekend certainly turned out to be a great weekend. Despite some rain there were plenty of people who wanted to have fun here at Aquavue and our jet ski tours to Fraser Island were very popular.

A lot of people seemed to stay on after the Easter weekend and we had plenty of jet ski hire through the week and this weekend too. And it’s no wonder, the weather has been wonderful in Hervey Bay.This morning was one of the best I’ve seen and this shot was taken from the cafe deck not long after we opened.

Still morning in Hervey Bay

It’s almost the end of the month too so it’s time to introduce you to the employee of the month here at Aquavue.

Hannah - the team member of the month here at AquavueWe’d like you to meet Hannah. Here at Aquavue we rely on our staff to provide the fast and friendly service that we have a reputation for and we’re fortunate to have some of the best staff in the Bay.

Hannah is one of those great staff members and whether she’s working in the kitchen or out the front serving the tables this young lady is always smilly and ready to help.

Easter is Upon Us

March 20th, 2008

Easter is upon us and the weather forecast for Hervey Bay is looking to be not too bad. The temperatures are certainly going to be high enough to make a trip down to the beach in Hervey Bay a great idea.

It’s also a great time to have some fun out on the water and there’s no better way to do that than hiring a jet ski from here at Aquavue. You won’t need a licence and we supply all the safety gear you will need. So come on down and see just how much fun you can have on one of our adrenalin machines. This could be you out on the Bay this weekend:

Even if you can’t handle that much excitement you can still enjoy a great time at Aquavue with the best coffee and best view in town. We’ll be open from 7am every day during Easter.

Jet Ski Tours to Fraser Island

March 15th, 2008

The lead up to Easter this year has been great. The weather hasn’t been too bad and there’s a lot of interest in our jet ski tours to Fraser Island. One tour even headed out at 7.30 this morning and, if you can handle getting up early, then that’s a great time to be seeing parts of Fraser Island that no one else can show you.

We have a variety of Fraser Island jet ski tours we can take you on depending on your time and budget so if you’re coming up to Hervey Bay for Easter why not give us a call to make a booking?

The Fraser Island jet ski tours are very popular so it’s wise to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Even if you don’t want to take an early-morning jet ski tour the beach here at Hervey Bay is still a great place to be early in the morning. This was the view from our cafe at about 7.15am today.

Beautiful Mornings

March 7th, 2008

The seasons come and go and now we’re slipping into autumn and that has to be one of the nicest times of year in Hervey Bay. The early mornings are a little cooler and walking on the beach or up here in our cafe is a very pleansant place to be.

You can sit here on the deck and have breakfast with a view that you can never grow tired of. Here’s what it looked like at 7am yesterday

Early morning at Aquavue in Hervey Bay

Unfortunately what I can’t show you is the big dugong that was out in the bay in front of Aquavue at the same time as this photo was taken. It kept our guests entertained for quite some time but was always below the surface when the camera was pointed in its direction.

If you like views like this one then come on down and have breakfast with the best view and the best coffee in Hervey Bay. We’re open every day from 7am.

Sealife in Hervey Bay

February 25th, 2008

Things have been a bit quiet out in the bay for the last few months but now the sealife is beginning to put in an appearance once again. In the last week we’ve had several pods of dolphins close in to shore and clearly visible to the people dining in the cafe and there are a pair of manta rays further out too.

While both the dolphins and the manta rays are visible from the deck here at Aquavue if you want the best view of all you should hire one of our kayaks and paddle a little way offshore. Then you can sit there and look straight down into the still waters and see them swimming right below you.

It’s certainly a magical experience.

Sunshine in Hervey Bay

February 16th, 2008

I’m sure a lot of Hervey Bay residents woke up this morning and wondered what that bright light in the sky was. It seems like it’s been ages since we’ve seen the sun and after two weeks of wet and overcast days I’m sure that we were all hanging out to see a sunny day once more.

Actually we had a bit of sun yesterday afternoon too as you can see from this photo taken from our webcam.

Sunshine in Hervey Bay

But whether it’s fine and sunny or overcast and raining people still want to get out and have fun on the water and yesterday the catarmaran and jet skis from our Beach Hire section were popular and today has been the same.

So don’t let a few clouds put you off, come on down had have some fun in the water with our jet skis and catamaran or just kick back and have the best coffee in town. Even if it’s raining the cafe is still open because we’ve got plenty of seating under cover.

Aquavue’s Employee of the Month

January 29th, 2008

Well we’re back safe and sound from New Zealand and I’m pleased to say that everything functioned perfectly while we were away. I also have to say that it’s good to be back because there really is no place quite like Hervey Bay.

Aquavue employee of the monthIt’s that time of the month again to salute our top employee and this month it’s Carly.

Like so many small businesses Aquavue Cafewatersports is a family-run concern and even though we employ quite a few local people various members of the family also like to come down and lend a hand when things get really busy.

My daughter Carly is one of those family members who likes to pitch in and you’ll often see her smiling face around the cafe on weekends. Over the Christmas period she really pitched in and did a great job when things got really busy.

And now the holidays are over things will settle down … just a little. Hervey Bay is a great place to be at this time of the year so it will be a while before things really quieten down.

I’m Outta Here

January 10th, 2008

At the end of business today I’m out of here for a week. The family and I are heading to New Zealand to support one of our daughters who is part of one of the local outriggers teams. They’re competing in a major competition over there and we just had to be there.

While I’m away Aquavue will still be operating as per normal and the team are guaranteed to look after you so come on down for the best coffee and cafe cuisine in Hervey Bay.

Not in Hervey Bay

January 5th, 2008

Over the Christmas to New Year period a nasty storm raged up and down the southern part of the Queensland Coast. Campers at Rainbow Beach and on Fraser Island were ordered out of the area as high winds and very high tides threatened their camping sites but here in Hervey Bay you would have found it hard to believe that there was a storm out there at all.

It certainly was overcast and late in the afternoons on some of those days the bay did become a bit choppy but for the rest of the time the water looked just like this.

Stormy weather in Hervey Bay???

Stuart from Total Website Management lifted this image from our webcam and it shows just how calm the waters here in Hervey Bay at a time when over the horizon it was blowing a gale. The time stamp on the image is 10.19 on 30 December.

It’s a shame that the tourist bodies that we pay to promote Hervey Bay were too busy doing other things to actually advertise the fact that while the storm was blowing in other places the beach in Hervey Bay was a great place to be.
