Last time I was here I was telling you what a wonderful time the early mornings are here at Aquavue, Hervey Bay. Now I have to admit that sometimes the still peaceful mornings can disappear.
On Saturday we had the northerlies blowing and on those days the bay takes on a whole different look. It looks angry and rough and the sound of the waves hitting the beach is hard to miss … but it’s still a magic time and I think some of our cafe’s patrons prefer to see the bay displaying a different face for a change.
By Sunday though the northerlies had gone and the bay was peaceful and we had dolphins just off the beach. They were back again on Tuesday morning too and those beautiful creatures really do have a way of changing the colour of your day.
The dolphin pods here in Hervey Bay are all wild and don’t usually approach anyone in the water but down at Tin Can Bay – about two hours drive south of here – two dolphins come in every morning to be fed. I haven’t been to see them but some of our patrons have and they all say that it’s a great experience.
